STATUS: A Nordic Network for Art Music
Aktuellt i februari 2025:
Nordic network for sharing knowledge on classical and contemporary music.
Founded in 2021, STATUS is a collaborative network of music professionals from Nordic music centres, dedicated to supporting contemporary art music. Although each organisation within the network operates with distinct structures and methodologies, they all share a common mission: to strengthen and support art music across the Nordic region.
STATUS focuses on knowledge sharing, comparative analysis of infrastructures, and the exploration of artistic and social developments within the genre. The network has pioneered a unique model of knowledge exchange, where members share key developments—known as "signals"—from their respective countries' music fields. Through collaborative reflection and comparative analysis, STATUS identifies shared trends and distinct approaches across the Nordic region, offering deeper insights into the contemporary music ecosystem and enriching the perspectives of all involved.
To expand this dialogue, STATUS hosts open meetings, such as a recent roundtable event at Nordic Music Days. Using our “share and mirror” method, members and participants addressed topics like Inclusion in Art Music and Culture in a World of Crisis, fostering engaging exchanges on challenges and innovations in the field. Inspired by these sessions, STATUS aims to bring this collaborative format to a broader audience at other future festivals.
